The Monhegan House is always planning something new for guests and visitors. From poetry retreats to book readings to hosting art workshops and yes, birding groups, see what upcoming events are planned that may spark your interest in visiting us on the Island. 

AREA ATTRACTIONS

Monhegan island is a small island off the coast of Maine in the Atlantic Ocean. Even though we are small, there is beauty in the simplicity and nature of island life. Take a hike through the forest, comb the beach, or visit some of the popular local shops. Staying on Monhegan island is a time to escape the stresses of every day life and try something new and refreshing. There is something for everyone.

Built in 1850 this gorgeous stone lighthouse stands as a beacon for the island. From the grounds the views of the Atlantic Ocean and Monhegan Island.

Attached to the Monhegan Lighthouse guests can enjoy the art of Maud Briggs Knowlton , who painted Monhegan Island in the late 1890's. They also offer tours of the actual lighthouse twice a week with weather permitting.
